what are soma? i have a few questions about somas.?

what kind of drug are they? (i.e. benzo, opiate, etc.)
what is the high from recreational use like?
can you tell me if the affect is similar to taking many xanax?
and if so, is there a sort of equivalent dose table that can measure the two?

any or all of the questions answered would be very much appreciated!
not because i'd be using them. it's for a school project on the 'dangers of addiction'

somas are muscle relaxants, there's no real high (some report mild euphoria), they just make you sleepy - it's not at all like xanax, and fyi the main side effects are nausea and vomiting - they come in a pretty standard 350 mg tablet, one should knock out a 120 lbs person, 2 a 200 lbs person, 3 a 250 lbs person and so on... knock out is no real joke, but if your back hurts and it's keeping you from sleeping, then soma is your drug.
