I was perscribed Cyclobenzaprine which is the generic form of flexeril, a muscle relaxant. I got it for my back and I want to know if it feels like a painkiller because my hurting is severe.

No its a muscle relaxer. It will loosen your muscles, but for hurting not really. It makes you tired.

Flexeril is a prescription, non-narcotic muscle relaxant. It can make you sleepy and if the pain is reduced by taking it, you have hurting due to muscle injury as opposed to joints.

I take it nightly for chronic back pain. It makes me really tired, but everyone is affected differently. It definitely helps with my hurting. My sister is taking Amrix, which is the extended-release cyclobenzaprine, and she says that it definitely helps with her pain (she's also on vicodin, though). It will relax your muscles and may make you feel fantastic. Give it a reasonable chance before disregarding it as not the thing for you. Sometimes it takes 2 weeks before you feel the real relief from a medicine.
