my tolerance for xanax is going up is this normal?

i used 2 take a half a xanax bar and be feeling pretty good and sleepy and all that.
every other time i take them they were off quick or i don't get the same buzz. is this normal?
First of all, are zanax prescribed to you or do you just take them to receive a buzz'' from them?
Never take prescription medication whether they were not prescribed to you!
It is absolutely normal that whether you take benzodiazepines etc over a lenght of time you become addicted to them and your body and mind develops a tolerance to the drug, which means if it is prescribed to you for a good reason, you need to tell your doctor and he will decide whether the dosage has to be increased.. you are not supposed ever to take more on your own than the prescribed dosage..You need to talk to your doctor if the amount of medication you take no longer has the desired effect.
It is normal that this happens.
