I have been taking Tramadol for approximately a week now for Tmj, and I didn't take it for one day since the pain decreased. Well that night I had bizarre dreams that felt like i'd had them before even though I haven't. The next day I was very headachey and moody. Is this an addiction to tranadol already?
Try talking to your Dr approximately a medication cocktail that will intend Tranadol will not be the drug of selection for the Tmj issues.
Tramadol can cause side effects and many drugs in pain management can cause odd symptoms like you describe. It is very similar to people who use Co codamol which is a drug that can give you codeine headache when you take it and one when you don't.
Pain management teams receive good results by using very low dose antidepressant drugs (not at a level to treat depression) with other less toxic painkillers. Whether your Dr has no expertise in this area then ask for a referral to the hurting management team.
I don't know, for Tmj is your muscles for your jaw being tight and the headache is from tight muscles in your neck. Those matters can be released to be rid of them by doing these:
Jaw muscles, Tmj:
Put your fingers on your head so your thumbs are behind your ears. Press into the back of your jaw next to the skull and hold that pressure. After 30 seconds slowly raise your head until your neck is fully extended then open your mouth as far as you can. Release the pressure but hold your head and mouth like that for another 30 seconds.
Neck
Put your hands alongside your head so your thumbs are on the front of the muscle under your ear and your fingers are on the back of the muscle behind your head. Squeeze your thumb and fingers together and hold. Relax your body. After 45 seconds, slowly lower your head as far as you can, release the pressure but hold your neck lowered for another 30 seconds.
For best results relax your body first by taking a deep breath and exhaling then remain this relaxed.
