Why do answers from people with no knowledge or expertise in the field end up being chosen as the best reply? What happened to having to quote your sources?

Lets analyze this reply: http://answers.yahoo.com/question/index?qid Bufferin is just brand name buffered aspirin. Why was aspirin recommended when an alternate to aspirin was sought?
http://www.drugs.com/mtm/bufferin.html

2 How was a medication dose recommended without ascertaining the canines weight and any medical conditions? the recommended aspirin dosage for dogs is 5 mg to 10 mg per pound of your dog's weight, administered once during a 12-hour period. An adult aspirin (eg. Bufferin) is 320 mg; a baby aspirin is 80 mg. Was the poster assuming the dog weighs between 8 and 16 lbs?
http://www.vetinfo.com/aspirin 3) Tramadol is not a medicine for a dog It is also used frequently in humans. http://www.rxlist.com/ultram phenomenon is not exclusive to this specific impeach and response; I just happened to choose to analyze this one due to the fact that I am a pharmacy student. If you begin to analyze other responses you will soon realize that most are anecdotal at best. That being said, there are some good answers on the site. Take each reply with grain of salt and do some research of your own. Don't just automatically believe the best Answer

Because of the point system, I'm just trying to get more points, I don't care whether my answers are good or not. A lot of the time I give people poor advice intentionally, because I don't care whether they follow it and it makes me giggle.

Of course one shouldn't accept anything on her as fact that would be silly.

Because this is primarily a marketing site to place ads within answers. it masquerades as a help site.
you can't really run an answer site without experts, and there are none on the yahoo payroll.

I'm one of the people who agree with you. Hands down, I agree with you.
Usually numerous people give me answers that are apparent, and even I could've come up with a question like that. Seriously, people are just doing it for the points, but I think helping people and getting Real feedback is better than the crap we get. And I think people shouldn't just do it for the points, because if they actually take time to write stuff back, then they might receive best answer. Thank you for being the person who understands! )

Because it's random people? They don't care about accuracy all the time. Sometimes they jsut want pooints or fun.
