18 months ago I was a healthy size 8-10 and 9 stone, after pain my back I was given 3 different kinds of medication, these being pain killers, anti inflamitories and muscle relaxants.
I am now a sze 16 to 18 and 14 stone. The muscle relaxants are Methacarbamol (robaxin) and has the side effect of weight gain.
I am a healthy eater, eating is not the problem and I have now started back on excercising mainly cardio, but is it worth cutting my food down to 1000-1200 calories a day to see if I can lose weight while on these tablets or am I fighting a losing battle?
I am so damn upset over this, it's getting to the point where I don't want to do anything or go out because I'm so concious approximately this big weight increase.
I know numerous will say that my wieght isn't that poor, but to me it is. I have masses of clothes now that I can't fit into and it's making me tearful all the time, especially now summer is here.
i understand, im on different kinds of meds, but they also giv me weight increase but at different rate, ive been on it for 2 years and my trouble does mean i cant exercise, and dieting actualy makes me feel worse, i need to eat 3 tim a day and eat a good portion so that idont feel worse...ive gained 50 pounds... and its probably form mussle loss and puttin on fat.. but how i see it is i understand why i am taking my meds, and what they do, i do confess i wear cloths which are a little more baggy, not like big shirt, but like 2 shirts one is nice and good but the other one is just open up button shirt and rolled up sleeves, so i do confess i feel better when im out because i dont think about my fattyness as much, but there nothing i can do. but you seem to be able to exercise, i would say make sure you are able to and make certain ur prob cant actuallly receive worse, becaise if so you can go to rehab and let them show you how you can exercise and avoid hurting yourself more.
i know how you feel approximately being concious bout what others think, but you really have to just push yourself and just disregard those thoughts, and just put them out of your head and have more fun, when you have more fun you will prbably forget bout it for awhile, and thats good, i would sy you shouldnt go on a diet, but it really depends on the meds and what they do to you, if you do go on one, and feel idzzy and bad then you should eat then instanlty, dont let it make sure whether it says eat with food that you actualy eat a good meal and take meds, thats inportant, i know because when i was younger i didnt and it hurt alot after awhile bcause it hurts your stomach... so just know your body and undersetand your needs... and always be safe by listening to your body
best bet is not to diet at all but change your life style. i used to be a size 8 many years ago then had kids and put on weight due to medication and pregnancy the only way i have shed half of who i was is by exercising for an hour a day vigourously Body pump by les mills is fantastic. and walking and getting rid of all caffiene sugar, and salt and greasy foods out of your diet. read a nutritionist book and eat more grainy foods. vegetables legumes. things like that chop down on white bread.. I believe weight increase stresses people out so since you know it is happening before it gets too heavy for your body to handle do something approximately it now. join the gym or get an exercise bike lift wieghts small ones at first like 500gram google les mills body pump on u tube.
I refer to with your physician. Weight gain can be a common side effect of taking medication even whether you're dieting and exercising regularly. They should be able to inform you on what to do better than any of us can.
