I work with disabled adults, to make a long story short, someone fell on me. Ok I wore a knee brace and go to Pt 3 times a week, light duty, no squating, lifting twisting, etc. So in my job I have to support people, help them walk, ect. Any way on a walk someone cut in front of me I twisted to receive away from her, Hurt my knee worse. Then the next day I go to Pt, later that I cant stand, so I cant go to work Thursday. I cant even support my weight, go to specialist, off work till the 25th, then he will reeveluate. Im upset he kinda just left the room no note, no meds, nothing, so i chase the nurse down, Im using crutches and I cant walk and using wheelchair when I need up. People cant understand how I could hurt my knee worse then what it was. He said my knee cap wont hold still. floats around. So what s the next treatment. The nurse said do my Pt exercises at domestic, uh they didnt give me and I did ask to make certain. So do I go to Pt Wednesday? I have ultram as meds now. Im off work and boss doesnt understand why I cant stand up and actually there is no light duty in that line of work. I have had that job 21 years. So Im with out a paycheck till temp disablity goes in effect, I have no money for bills, I hope I can aleast receive sick leave till my workers comp kicks in.. They say you have to miss aleast 3 days and I have missed 2 so far and then all of next week. So what kind of treatment do they give for the floating kneecap?
geesh sorry approximately poor typos, grammer tired from hurting meds
sorry on the walk I hurt my knee for a 2nd time, making the first injury worse, knee gave out
Yes i have been wearing a brace and they do tape the knee after pt but dont know now whats going to happen now i cant even bear weight on it? Should I try to still walk as much as I can?
I am a student of physiotherapy so I'm not totally certain, every therapist will have their own methods, but this may help give you a heads up whether the patellar tracking is the main problem. The Pt will mostly have you do exercises that strengthen the quadriceps muscles (those on the front of the thigh) and the tensor fascia latae (it runs from the side of your hip to the side of your knee). These muscle groups have tendons that attach to the kneecap and help keep it in place. This will take time and so they will probably give you a trial of using a knee brace or tape the patella in place as best as possible. There are other structures that hold the patella in place so these exercises might not be enough. Best of luck
