How much Soma is to much?

my boyfriend just had a major surgery on his knee... Saturday morning he ran out of his pain meds... which was Oxycontin and Nucynta. I called the doctor and they gave me the run around all yesterday and he was just in so much pain i couldnt stand to see him like that. I gave him Soma. Just something to make him sleep... That was at about 9pm saturday night. then at 10 he was still in agony so i gave him another one. He finally got to sleep at around midnight just to awake at 3am this morning crying in pain... hes not one to cry so i know it hurt... so i gave him another one.
he got to sleep and slept till about 10am. i gave him two more trying to hold him over untill the doctor freakin called me and said" sorry i cant call in nucynta ill call you in hydrocodone" which is is allergic to by the way and before i could say anything the doctor hung up. He is sleeping now beside me... what should i do? what can take the pain away? he has a cold machine running to his knee right now...

Hon, you need to take him to the er or urgent care if he is in that much pain while recovering from surgery. I know you are trying to help him but you are actually doing the opposite. There is no way you should be giving him Soma! What you are doing is overdosing him in a very short period of time, and that obviously isn't good (he can stop breathing or slip into a coma). It is important for him to get some medical attention to help this situation. BTW, It sounds like his doctor is an incompetent moron. Once he's healed up, he needs to switch to a different doctor. Good luck.
Aww! Take him to ER or an urgent care unit.

Get back on the phone to the doctor. Explain to him that your BF can't take hydrocodone and to phone in a Rx for something else. Have the pharmacy phone number ready. Stop feeding him Soma- it's not a good idea. Keep ice on his knee at all times- I am talking 24 hours a day. Keep his leg elevated by putting pillows under his lower leg and ankle NOT just under his knee. If you can't get the doctor to take care of this on the phone get in to the office first thing in the morning or go to the ER with your BF so a doc can see how badly he is hurting.
