There are a few things you should try first.
1. remove caffeine from his diet
2. try exercise on a regular basis
3. Melatonin- is an Otc supplement which aides in sleep
These are recommendations that a doctor will make prior to prescribing medication. Drawback to getting a script from a physician is that long term use can lead to dependence. Aka... he starts using sleeping pills at the age of 13, and he uses them regularly he will have trouble sleeping without them by the time he is 18.
Hope this helps.
