I have a 12 year old lab suffering from arthritis and the vet prescribed him novox and it has made such a difference. The issue is it costs like 55 dollars for less than a months supply at the vet. When researching online I found a months supply for the cheapest being 21 dollars at Dr. Fosters website and 35 dollars at petmeds.com. Both better prices but a little nervous ordering over the internet. Especially since Dr. Fosters stresses the importance of needing a perscription and asks for vets name (which I like) and pet meds you can just order it no questions asked, which worries me. Any expereince that would be helpful to me?
I do know that Novox is the generic of Rimadyl. Our dog is on Rimadyl and we place our orders with Kv Vet Provide. I have been very happy with this company. (we also order Glyco Flex Ii from them) There is No shipping fee.
Trust the local official.
Just be careful over the internet as some of the drugs really are not the same as prescribed by the vet even the ones they describe as generic and any good ones will ask for a prescription...
I lost my dog last year, she was 17 years old....long story notwithstanding she was a Working Champion at the top of her lesson in competition Internationally and loved it, she received an injury when she was two which I couldn't receive right, so vets for xray and I found she had been born with no hip sockets at all...the muscles she had built for working had supported her legs, so she had also been born with arthritis...one of those matters as both her parents were hip score perfect. The vet advised I Pts as she would never work again and he said she would not be able to even walk within 6 months. I needed time to think and time to do what I do best so taking the medication he gave me and stabilising her for two weeks on it, I swam her daily to rebuild her muscles, acupressure, ttouch, chiropractic work, bought her a Bioflow collar ( online) and several homeopathic treatments to suit her condition, reducing the vet meds until she was having none....six weeks later she was back working and won the international championship and she continued to do what she loved until I retired her at 7year old...I found cortaflex' which is brilliant and far better than Glocusamine products and she lived out her retirement' running, playing, walking, training and assisting me fr another ten years without hurting or discomfort...my vet checked her annually and she was case studied at vet college throughout her life...........Bioflow collar stopped the hurting and inflammation and Cortaflex protected her joints and that is the only object she had.......my vet trained several years ago for homeopathy just because of her results as he couldn't believe her success and health and now practices the two side by side with great results...he even sells Cortaflex and Bioflow products. My precedence for my dog was tat she did not suffer, she kept healthy, including her immune system ( which doesn't operate with vet drugs) my dog was young so it was very important she kept healthy all of her natural life......and she did. For the cost of one months supply you can purchase a Bioflow which will final him all his life and it works believe me, I wear my Bioflow bracelet 100 of the tme and boy do I know when I take it off and forget to put it back on ( back injury 20 years ago).........it is just another option for you.
No, never buy from an online pharmacy. These places are able to purchase the labels and containers of the drugs- not the actual drugs themselves. We receive several calls a day asking for prescriptions to be sent over to Petmeds or other online pharmacys and we always refuse because they are not selling the real products (we know- we've seen what happens). Whether I had a nickel for every dog I saw receive heartworms from being on a Petmed Heartguard, or a cat with fleas from using Petmeds Revolution, I would be rich. Please order only from your vet. They are not upping the price to make a profit- it cost what it cost. There are other low-cost arthritis medications you can ask about and have your vet order for you whether you want to save a few dollars.
I would go to www.drsfosterandsmith.com or www.1800petmeds.com
I ordered from 1-800 petmeds and they delivered it on time and they gave my dog a bone too.
